November 5, 2008 at 5:04 pmThis is the actual Bell helicopter that was used as the Batcopter on screen. Much like the original batmobile – lots of the design elements were added by the Fox art department and could not be used on an actual flight vehicle. The bat face silhouette for example is undoubtedly a visibility issue for the pilot and the bat-wings are a clear violation of current FAA laws. You could get away with a lot more for a film in 1966 than you can in an actual passenger vehicle today, apparently. :)
